Miami Monthly Meeting Quaker Homecoming
September 19-22, 2013
Waynesville, Ohio


Thursday, September 19

Registration begins at 1:00 PM  at the Red Brick Meeting House.  We will close the doors at 3PM to take a tour of the McKay House, Caesar Creek Cemetery, and Milton Cook's farm and the area near his farm.  The doors will reopen at 6PM for a dinner at the Red Brick Meeting House

We encourage you to come early to meet with others to share information about the area and the families that lived in the Waynesville area in the early 1800's.

3PM  Tour of the McKay House, Caesar Creek Cemetery and Milton Cook's farm

6PM  Dinner at the Red Brick Meeting House.   Menu includes Beef from Milton Cook's 100% grassfed beef, vegatables from Milton's organic farm and Milton's prize winning tomatoes.

7PM  Ghost Tour of Quaker Historic District  ($10--this is the only fund raiser that supports the Museum.  We will be collecting this money at the time of the event)  Meet at the Red Brick Meeting House.


Friday, September 20

9:00 Tour will leave from Red Brick Meeting House to first visit Caesar's Creek Pioneer Village where the Caesar's Creek MM building was moved after 1952.  There is a charge of $5 for the Pioneer Village that is not covered in our registration fee.  We will be visit the Hadley House by 10 am, the Springfield Meeting House at 10:30, Chester Meeting House at 11:15, Dover Meeting House by Noon.  

Lunch is on your own this day in Wilmington

1:30  We have an appointment to visit the Wilmington Archives at 1:30.  Everyone will certainly want to visit the Quaker Heritage Center at the college during this visit.  Quaker Heritage Center (http://www.wilmington.edu/qhc/)

5:30  Dinner at the Hammel House on Main Street in Waynesville

Dinner and ghost tour for the first 50 people who RSVP by paying for event. 
The price is $35 includes Tax tip and tour.  The price includes dinner, Ghost stories inside the Hammel House and the Ghost tour of Main St.

Dinner will be at 5:30 and will take approximately 1 and 1/2 hours.  Anyone who wants to only do the ghost tour can join us at the Hammel House after dinner.  We request a $10 contribution which covers admission to the museum if you do not have dinner at the Hammel House.  The $10 goes to support the museum.



Saturday, September 21

9AM  This day will be spent in Waynesville.  Events will start off with a Slideshow and talk on the Underground Railroad followed by a short explanation of Quakerism.  Then to Mary L. Cook Library in the Waynesville  Public Library.  This library is a treasure trove of information about Quaker families.

12 Noon Lunch at Red Brick Meeting House.  Lunch is a sandwich, pasta salad, dessert and drink.  Cost is $10.  Must be paid for ahead of time as caterer will only bring the amount of food that has been ordered.

1 PM to 2:30 will be spent in the Museum next door to the White Brick Meeting House.  


3:00  Dr. Tom Hamm will speak at the White Brick Meeting House about the Move of the Quaker families from South Carolina to Southwest Ohio and the Midwest.  Tom is the curator of Lilly Libary's Quaker Collection and Director of Special Collections for Earlham College.  The address for the white brick Meeting House is:  169 S Fourth St  Waynesville Ohio 45068

6:00  Dinner at the Golden Lamb In Lebanon, Ohio.  Reservations ahead of time required.

Cost is $36 per person which includes dinner, dessert and non-alcoholic beverages.  Check is your reservation.  This event will take place on the second floor of the Golden Lamb.  There is no elevator.



Sunday, September 22

Meet at the White Meeting House for regular meeting at 10:30.

Pot luck lunch after Meeting.  Please bring food to share.  Milton says that the local grocery sells salads, desserts, etc.  The food does not have to be homemade nor fancy!
