Cook family

It is the 300th year for the Cook family on these shores!

Milton Cook Explains:

The Cook family celebrates 300 years in America this year.  Peter and Elinor left England and Elinor and family arrived in Philadelphia in 1713.  As Piladelphia grew my ancestor Isaac (who married Mary Houghton) moved South with his family, ending up in Union County, South Carolina.

His oldest Daughter, Dianah, married John Wilson.  Their Daughter Hannah married Robert Furnas of Bush River Meeting.  They removed with their four children to Waynesville in 1803.  This is my mother's family line.

Dianah's brother, Amos, married Elizabeth Townsend (daughter of John and Elizabeth Pearson Townsend) and moved to Waynesville in 1803.

Both families were in Waynesville before Miami Monthly Meeting opened  October 13, 1803.  They transferred their memebership to Westland Pennsylvania Monthly Meeting.

I would like to add a photo here.

Milton has told me that he is the 6th generation to live on and farm the farm that Amos and Elizabeth purchased.  He and his farm were  honored as a bicentennial farm at the Warren County Fair July 2013.
